Finished the lab work, then we started to modify the LC circuit to turn it into a radio. There was not a huge amount of work to do to make this, given that we already had a coil in place from yesterday's work, so it was simply a case of soldering a few resistors, capacitors, a battery holder and some other bits. David Keen was very complimentary about my soldering, and after a quick redo of one joint, I found I had a working radio. Felt pretty happy with myself, even though I could only get Radio 5, and not the decent sub-etha waveband I'd hoped for.
Kirsten's radio was very good too, she even managed to do delicate small girly solders, if that's possible.
Paul has not been able to get his to work, which is privately funny as he has masses of electronics experience. David thinks he did not remove the insulation from the ends of the coil wire.
I think we're heading for coffee in about twenty minutes, and I will be ready for the break I reckon.
I felt Alan's absence keenly this morning; I look forward to a nice long chat later on.
