Readiness

I spoke to Roy on the phone yesterday, he's apparently lost 3 stone since I saw him last in March. That's good going. I thought he'd lost some when I saw a recent Facebook photo.

It looks like the plan for the residential is that Roy and Kirsten will be coming up to Birmingham on the Friday evening, crashing at our house (they still won't get to meet Alan as he'll be in Portsmouth that weekend), then we'll travel up together on Saturday morning.

This evening, just as Spain were winning the World Cup (to lots of very loud happy shouts in our house), I had a message from Roy. He'd like to invite Paul to come up to Birmingham on Friday night also, with the intention that all four of us travel together on Saturday morning. It's not impossible but it'll be a bit of a squeeze in the house.

Update - it looks like Paul won't be meeting us now in Birmingham to travel up together, as he is flying straight up to Newcastle. How very decadent, to take an internal flight, but I guess it's a heck of a lot quicker than driving or taking the train. I remember how long it took to get to Brighton when I did SXR103 and that's not a journey to relish.
