Arrival

1.30pm. I've arrived, and my accommodation is in Elvet block. Ugh. The room is moderately sized but depressing.

There are no hangers in the (world's smallest) wardrobe, so I am very glad I brought my thin plastic ones from home. I have to go back to reception at 2pm to register. By the time I have unpacked, that will be almost straightaway. Then there's nothing academic to do until 4pm I think.

I am glad I don't have to spend an academic year in this room, I think I would probably top myself. The fact that the curtain pattern matches the duvet isn't an especially good thing, as they are both hideous. I also pity anyone who is in the room below me, as the mattress makes springy noises when I move. The room also has markedly less daylight than the rooms in Holgate House. But it'll do just fine I'm sure.
